OK, for anyone who has risen to the defense of the guy currently occupying Bedroom #1 at the White House, I have some really bad news, and it won't help anyone to mince words:

What an idiot.

"Bring them on"

Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.

Idiot!

Yeah, that kind of thing is going to help so much with our countries image as well.

Hans Gruber: You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he's John Wayne? Rambo? Marshall Dillon?

Bush: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!

I'm not sure what I think about the statement or even the context of it, however you have to remember that probably half or the U.S. and most of the armed services would have taken it as a statement of encouragement.

I would have to agree... and the reality is that Bush will win by a landslide come next election because, it seems as though there will be no better choice.

If Bush is percieved as an "idiot" as so many people proclaim then why is/will there not be anyone *better* to vote for. Every time I speak to friends that are or have been in the military they have nothing but positive things to say about the president.

Why does everyone try and be SO politically correct these days? Hell the guy from Italy can't even express his dry sense of humor without being bashed. WTF?

I say to Mr. Bush "YEAH.... COME ON!"

You know, Germans have a bit of a hang up about the Nazis and the holocaust. It's history that they cannot escape. It must sickening to be reminded of it all the time.

Berscoloni should be (politically) nailed to the wall for that. I don't want him representing me. (And yeah, I don't care if I spelled his name wrong.)

... for Republicans maybe... but imho any of the other candidates would be better.

does that surprise you? Of course they do. If you are in the military and don't have faith in your Commander in Chief, then where does that leave you? Isn't one of the fundamentals you learn in the military to trust your commanders above all else?
Why does everyone try and be SO politically correct these days
I don't think it has anything to do with PCness... it's about not provoking someone even more to kill your own troops. It's disrespectful of the people over there who have to deal with sporatic surprise attacks.

Back durring the 2000 elections I talked with the brother of a friend of mine who's been in the military for years. He was voting for bush because "when his dad was president, we got to blow [censored] up" and figured bush jr. would let them too. Looking back on it, he was more right than anyone could have imagined. Republicans support the military far more than the Democrats, so the military supporting the Republicans can only be expected.

My father was in the Air Force for 21 years, a Republican (if forced to take a label) for pretty much all his life, and HE still thinks Bush is an idiot. Pretty much for all the same reasons most of us here do.

I fully believe that the average US citizen doesn't want someone intelligent in the White House. I think that they feel like those people are too much unlike them, and are liable to outthink them in detrimental ways. (Okay, that last part is a little too pointed, but it's something like that.) They feel like some moron is much more like them, and they would rather have some good ol' boy in charge than someone who they feel is elitist.

Not that I don't believe that GWB is an idiot, but I do believe he plays it up for popularity's sake.

Why most Americans don't realize that they're much more likely to become smarter than to suddenly become multi-millionaires I'm not sure, as that's a much greater culture gap than intelligence will ever be.

Just out of curiosity, I thought you were from the US. Are you from EU, genixia?

Anyway, no surprise that in EU you find out that your representatives do not match your political expectations. There's litte you can do here in EU. I am not saying that Berlusconi is a good or bad representative of Eu, which is a different story. My observation is that I believe there are few other political systems in the "first world" that are less democratic and representative of the citizens' will than the EU. That is much more scary than Berlusconi's incapability to control himself when offended...

Just a side observation of mine.

Sadly I have to agree with this... also b/c of all that bush managed to pull through... i.e... due to his ability to "stay strong" during 9/11
people have more "faith" in him

Hm, yes, having a guy who shoehorned a custom tailored law saying "I am immune to prosecution for any crimes I commited or will commit because I am The Boss" through his parliament as the closest thing to European Head of State really speaks volumes about the current state of the Union

Hopefully, new Constitution will bring some improvements...
